Privacy Policy

Tierones is an invite-only network that connects verified students from India's IITs, NITs and IIITs with startups hiring for coding roles. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to students, employers and visitors of tierones.io.
1. Data we collect
- Student accounts: your name, institute email address (used to verify that you study at a listed institute), an optional personal email (verified by one-time code), and your phone number (required before applying to a role).
- Student profiles: the education, skills, projects and coding-platform links (such as GitHub, LeetCode or Codeforces handles) you choose to add.
- Employer accounts: your name, work email, company details and the internships you post.
- Platform activity: applications, shortlists, interview schedules, messages between students and employers, and hire records.
- Technical data: standard server logs, Google Analytics cookies, and a browser-stored record of the page you first arrived from (used to understand which pages bring signups).
2. How we use it
- To operate the platform: verifying your institute, showing your profile to employers you apply to, scheduling interviews, delivering messages and recording placements.
- To send transactional emails (verification codes, application updates, interview invitations, placement confirmations).
- To keep the network trustworthy: preventing fake accounts, spam and misuse.
- To understand and improve the product through aggregate analytics.
We do not sell personal data, and we do not show third-party advertising.
3. Who sees your data
- Employers see your profile when you apply to their posting. Your phone number stays masked and is revealed to an employer only after they shortlist or hire you; every reveal is logged.
- Public profile pages exist only if you choose to publish one. You can unpublish at any time — the page content is removed, and your reserved link simply stops showing your data until you republish.
- Service providers that process data on our behalf: Google Firebase (authentication and database, stored in the asia-south1 region), Google Analytics, and our hosting provider. Each receives only what it needs to provide its service.
- Legal requirements: we may disclose data where required by law.
4. Security
All traffic is encrypted over HTTPS. Passwords are handled by Google Firebase Authentication and never stored by us in readable form. Database access is restricted by server-enforced security rules, and administrative access is limited to named, allow-listed accounts.
5. Retention and deletion
We keep your data while your account is active. You can request a copy of your data, correction of inaccurate data, or deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time by emailing careers@tierones.io from your registered email. Some records (for example, anonymised placement statistics or data we must keep by law) may be retained after deletion.
6. Your rights
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, you have the right to access, correct and erase your personal data, and to raise a grievance about how it is handled. Contact careers@tierones.io and we will respond as soon as reasonably possible.
7. Eligibility and age
Tierones is intended for college students and working professionals. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.
8. Changes
If this policy changes materially, we will update this page and revise the effective date above. Continued use of Tierones after a change means you accept the updated policy.
